Obamacare IRS Penalties Are A Snooze For EOR and PEO Staffing Clients

Staffing companies that use Professional Employer Organizations (PEO) and Employer of Records (EOR) for their work comp coverage, do not have to worry about the IRS’s Obamacare penalties and fines. (see link below)

PEO’s and EOR’s offer lower work comp rates, complete HR services, and are always “pay as you go” for comp fees. Work Comp Staffing Solutions offers other work comp programs too, depending on your particular situation.

Workers’ Compensation – Selecting Agent or Broker

Getting the lowest possible rates depends on working with a very experienced staffing workers’ compensation broker or agent. Here’s how to identify the best broker or agent for you:

First — Pick a specialist.
Many agents/brokers are specialists in G/L or P/C insurance, but not necessarily workers comp for staffing companies. In fact, many agents/brokers work with staffing companies only to sell them the more profitable and easier to quote G/L and P/C business lines.

Next– Ask for references.
It is important to ask your agent or broker for the references of other staffing companies they have worked with recently. Make sure the references work in similar staffing verticals, and use similar codes.

Finally,– Ask for at least 2 quotes.
It is important to compare rates, and compare how the different work comp programs function in relation to your back office and cash flow requirements in your business.

Working Outdoors This Winter Can Result In More Work Comp Claims

With record snowfalls, along with frigid temperatures in the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest, the U.S. Labor Department’s of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is urging all those involved in snow removal and cleanup to take precautions, and focus on safety.

Workers performing snow removal operations may be exposed to serious hazards. These include slips and falls while walking on snow and ice, falls from roofs and roof edges, through skylights, or from aerial ladders and lifts.

Those working outdoors may also be at risk of cold stress, including first responders who are on duty for long periods of time. Anyone working outside for prolonged periods may experience cold stress with mild symptoms, such as shivering while remaining alert.

Moderate to severe symptoms include shivering stops, confusion, slurred speech, heart rate/breathing slowness, and loss of consciousness. When the body is unable to warm itself, serious cold-related injuries may occur, such as frostbite.

Work Comp Staffing Solutions has many workers’ comp and general insurance solutions to keep your insurance rates as low as possible– regardless of the weather.
