- Wage Replacement Benefits.
Temporary total disability benefits are available to injured workers who temporarily cannot work due to their work injury or those who cannot find work due to the restrictions placed on them. This benefit is paid out at two thirds of their wage at the time of injury
- Permanent Partial Disability Benefits. These benefits are available for workers who have suffered a permanent disability such as a loss of a body part or its functioning due to a work related injury. The amount of this benefit is decided by the permanent partial disability rating.
- Vocational Rehabilitation Benefits.Vocational rehabilitation benefits are available for injured workers who require assistance in returning to their former job or a similar job in a different workplace. These benefits allow the provision of a number of programs such as retraining and on-the-job training.
- Medical Benefits. The employer and insurer are responsible for the payment of reasonable and necessary medical care and prescriptions for any workplace injuries. Depending on the injury this medical care can include surgery, hospitalization, physical therapy and chronic pain management.

Staffing Industry Analysts, using NCCI statistics, produced a study that documents the trend of decreasing accident rates, and increasing work comp expenses.
Here is the link to the summary of this excellent report.
https://www2.staffingindustry.com/Editorial/Industrial-Staffing-Report/Dec.-21-2017/Trends-in-workers-compensation-for-industrial-staffing-firms
The main reason most rates are increasing for light industrial staffing companies is that health care costs are increasing at a faster rate than the decline in accident frequency.
For this reason alone, most staffing companies should be regularly examining their work comp costs, and determining if they are using the most appropriate and least expensive comp program for their staffing company.
If you are suffering from high work comp rates, contact Work Comp Staffing Solutions for a free quote on a new work comp program, which can help lower your work comp rates. by David Schek | Jul 18, 2019 | Employer of Record, Staffing Company
As this short bolded blurb states, ICE has started to target the staffing industry to inspect for the required I-9 forms in order to identify illegal workers.
Many of Work Comp Staffing Solutions clients use large Employer of Records (EOR’s) where the EOR is the statutory employer, so this will not be a concern to them. Also, many Work Comp Staffing Solutions clients use large Professional Employer Organizations (PEO’s) who manage the collection and recording of this employee data– again so these ICE inspections should not be an issue.
If you are the “sole employer” of your employees, like the article says, you should start getting your records in order and make sure you have a good relationship with an employment attorney that specializes in this area.
—————————————-
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on June 25 began issuing notices of inspection required to initiate a Form I-9 investigation. The Trump administration has advised local ICE offices to boost the output by four to five times the 2018 number of inspection, or up to 25,000 new investigations across the U.S. The staffing industry is among those being targeted.
If a staffing firm receives a notice of inspection, it has three business days to produce all of the Forms I-9 requested, as well as all of the audit trails associated with those Forms I-9, if the forms were created using an electronic system. Staffing firms must meet this deadline, or face substantial fines. Staffing firms should consult with attorneys who are familiar with Form I-9 requirements when navigating this kind of investigation
