Using Social Media Can Lower Your Workers Compensation Rates

Social Media can be a key tool to communicate the high priority that your staffing company places on operating a safe staffing firm. In variably, as your employees and clients receive your information about work place safety issues, you will experience fewer workers compensation claims  which will translate into lower workers compensation rates.

All of Work Comp Staffing Solutions consulting clients  promote their safety practices and safety philosophy through weekly or monthly blogs via social media outlets like Linked In and E mail blog lists.   As their employees and clients read this material,  they understand that safety is an important value to their company.

Here are some immediate benefits of integrating safety issues into your social media marketing program.:

1. Clients  and prospective clients will know that you are a professional  staffing firm that is serious about safety issues.

2. Applicants and employees who have a history of filing fraudulent comp claims will see  that your staffing company is involved in all aspects of safety and claims management- putting your firm at less risk of being a target for workers compensation insurance fraud.

3.  Social media can help inform applicants, employees  and clients of new or updated safety procedures.

4. These safety messages can be E-communicated along with other marketing and sales information about your firm creating a brand  that reflects very positive staffing values.

Work Comp Staffing Solutions is ready to help develop your safety social media  campaign. Please give me contact us at davidstaffing@gmail or visit us at www.StaffingCompSolutions.com for a FREE workers compensation quote.

Increase Use of Temporaries May Lead To Companies Taking Workplace Safety Less Seriously

The link/ article below mentions some interesting trends about work place safety. Specifically,  the article highlights that companies are using temporary workers to mitigate or negate their responsibility to provide a safe work place for ALL workers.

While  the article unfortunately paints the staffing industry in some unfavorable light (which I take strong issue with) it does make some good points about how staffing companies really need to know their clients before placing workers at their facilities

Holiday Stress Can Lead to Work Comp Accidents

The American Institute of Stress did  a survey recently and their results have significant implications for the work place.

Here are some of the results of their survey:

  • 65% of workers said that workplace stress had caused difficulties and more than 10 percent described these as having major effects
  • 10% said they work in an atmosphere where physical violence has occurred because of job stress and in this group, 42% report that yelling and other verbal abuse is common;
  • 29% had yelled at co-workers because of workplace stress, 14% said they work where machinery or equipment has been damaged because of workplace rage and 2% admitted that they had actually personally struck someone;
  • 19% or almost one in five respondents had quit a previous position because of job stress and nearly one in four have been driven to tears because of workplace stress;
  • 62% routinely find that they end the day with work-related neck pain, 44% reported stressed-out eyes, 38% complained of hurting hands and 34% reported difficulty in sleeping because they were too stressed-out;
  • 12% had called in sick because of job stress;
  • Over half said they often spend 12-hour days on work related duties and an equal number frequently skip lunch because of the stress of job demands

Clearly there are a lot of things that can stress you out about running a staffing business these days, but securing a competitive workers compensation quote should not be one of them

Do You Have A Workers Compensation SWAT Team?

Reducing workers compensation rates depends on developing a great relationship with your Workers Compensation “SWAT Team.” Your SWAT Team should include your Agent or Broker, the carriers accident investigation manager, and your internal workers compensation manager. Your Team should be ready to step into action the moment that an accident occurs.

Communication and great follow up is critical for your SWAT teams success. Everyone’s goal has to be to keep your workers compensation costs as legitimately low as possible.

As a staffing owner, everyday may seem like there are 1000 new challenges. A well prepared SWAT Team should be able to update you at any time as to the status of each work place accident. They should be able to share their plan of action for each accident and injury. Most importantly, since your Agent/ Broker and Carrier all make commissions on your policy, they should be ready to assist you in all aspects of reducing your workers compensation costs.

Please feel free to contact me at 202-302-1212 to talk about your particular workers compensation issues, or to request a new workers compensation quote.

Why Identifying Witnesses For The First Injury Report Is So Important

Have you ever talked to people who saw a traffic accident and they all had slightly different versions of what happened, and who may have been at fault during the accident?  Usually a good accident investigator will want to talk to as many witnesses as possible and try to piece together exactly what happened at the scene of the accident.  Well  this process is no different than when a carrier’s comp representative tries to put together the facts surrounding a workers compensation claim.  The more people they can talk to that had some familiarly with the accident, the better and clearer picture they have for analyzing what happened and who may be at fault.

Therefore as a staffing owner and employer it makes economic sense to add all the relevant witnesses  to the First Injury Report.  This process also puts the employee on notice that their version of events will not be the only one examined in determining fault and legitimate degree of injury!

Please feel free to call me at 202-302-1212  to  chat about this blog and other ideas to keep your worker compensation low; as well as receive a workers compensation quote that could lower your rates.

Written Job Descriptions Can Keep Your Comp Rates Low

— Here’s why…

As a former staffing owner who has done his fair share of staffing “ASAP” positions, I understand the pressure that staffing managers have in matching the skill sets of the right applicant to the job, and getting the applicant to the job site site in a timely manner. Sometimes though, the Staffing Manager may assume that since the applicant has the necessary skills to do the job, they understand the safety elements of the specific job that the client wants done. Getting an applicant to understand the safest way of performing a job is essential to keeping your Work Comp rates low.

A written job description is a critical part of communicating safety policies of the job from the Staffing Manager to the applicant/temporary employee. Understandably, sometimes there is only time to describe the job site and the very basic responsibilities of the job to he applicant. Though a written job description (with a description of the site) is always the best way to both get peak performance from the applicant and minimize injuries that may cause your Comp rate to increase.

Please feel free to contact me at 202-302-1212 to discuss additional ways to keep your Work Comp costs low and to receive a FREE Work Comp quote.
