Workers Compensation Insurance Industry Beginning To Turn Around….VERY Slowly.

The link below discusses the improving trends in the workers compensation markets.  While many carriers are still recovering from a period of poor returns  between 2006 -2010,  there does seem to be some encouraging signs recently that profits at the carriers have increased as a result of lower losses  and higher premiums in most industry categories.

Though from our experience at Work Comp Staffing Solutions,  it may be another 12-24 months before carriers and begin to get comfortable underwriting staffing companies.  We believe an unintended consequence of the ACA is that workers compensation carriers are concerned about how staffing companies will deal with the implementation of the Act and how it will impact their costs.

A great way to manage all these new back office expenses and new regulatory liabilities like the ACA, is by partnering with a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) via a skilled broker like Work Comp Staffing Solutions.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about PEO’s  at davidstaffing@gmail.com  and visit us at www.StaffingCompSolutions.com

Social Media Can Help In The Battle To Fight Workers Compensation Insurance Fraud

The Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation Commission (BWCC) was researching an employee’s workers compensation claim that she was not able to work because of her health issues following a work related accident. —  for which she was collecting work comp benefits. A visit by the BWCC to her Facebook site and her other on line accounts indicated that she was on another  job working, while collecting benefits. She received over $60,000 in fraudulent benefits– at her employer’s expense. Needless to say the BWCC (and her employer) were not too pleased to find out about this fraud. See link below.

Using social media to check on employees who are collecting workers compensation and unemployment benefits may be a relatively new though very useful way to engage the Internet for your business.

Professional Employer Organizations or PEO’s are another business tool that you can use to your advantage in order to reduce your workers compensation  and back office costs.  For a FREE quote, please contact me at davidstaffing@gmail.com and visit us at www.StaffingCompSolutions.com

Co Morbidity- And Its Effect On Your Workers Compensation Insurance Rates

Here is an excellent article about the “potential health risks”  that your applicants may be bringing with them when they work with your agency. Co morbidity is a significant reason that medical costs are increasing in the workers compensation arena.  For example, the US population is generally less healthy in terms of obesity  than  it  was 40 years ago. As a result, the recovery time and costs after a workers compensation accident occurs, can be longer and more expensive to you as an employer.

Remember Professional Employer Organizations (PEO’s) are your partners in reducing and keeping your workers compensation rates as low as possible.  Staffing companies are increasingly turning to PEO’s to efficiently handle their workers compensation insurance coverage and back office administration.    Please feel free to contact me at davidstaffing@gmail for more information about partnering with a PEO, and visit our web site www.StaffingCompSolutions.com to request a FREE workers compensation insurance PEO quote.

Spaniards Give Their Workers Compensation System A Hand

(Warning – this article is rated R)

This vignette  about workers compensation  insurance and unemployment  fraud in Spain is almost too unbelievable.  Below is the link to  the article that will make you cringe, laugh, and cry — almost all at the same time

So if you think the US workers compensation system has its problems, just be grateful you are not an employer in Spain.

Remember if you are insured through a State Fund,  you should look at utilizing a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) which can usually offer you better workers compensation rates and always offer much greater back office value for your money. Here are 68M Reasons most Staffing Companies should leave State Funds

Here is a link detailing the 68M in humongous bonuses that California State Fund Managers and Executives are receiving while approving huge rate increases to customers and running the fund into the ground.

I wonder how many other State Funds are approving big bonuses at the expense of their staffing stakeholders aka customers?  Staffing companies deserve a workers compensation partner that cares more about keeping rates low and competitive, than prospering at the expense of their “stakeholders.”

Please feel free to contact me at davidstaffing@gmail.com  or visit us at www.StaffingCompSolutions.com to discuss how you can start utilizing a workers compensation partner that cares more about your business than their next huge Payday from the State Fund.
